Headux Elfin Stick 400

Industrial MMA/ARC Welder for Heavy-Duty Applications

⚡ MMA/ARC • 400A • 3-Phase • Lift TIG Mode • Hot Start • Arc Force • VRD • IP21S • CE Certified

🔥 BUILT FOR HEAVY-DUTY INDUSTRIAL MMA WELDING

The Elfin Stick 400 is a professional-grade 3-phase MMA/ARC inverter designed for demanding industrial environments. With a 400A output range, 40% duty cycle at maximum current, and a robust feature set including Hot Start, Arc Force, VRD, and optional Lift TIG mode, it delivers consistent, high-quality stick welds on structural steel, heavy plate, and pipework.

Engineered for fabrication shops, construction sites, and industrial maintenance teams where reliability and uptime are non-negotiable. Generator-friendly design with voltage spike protection makes it equally capable in workshop and remote on-site environments.

✦ KEY FEATURES

Lift TIG Mode (Optional)

Capable of welding with Lift TIG Mode for touchless-style arc ignition — expanding the machine's versatility beyond MMA for precision TIG work on stainless steel and other materials.

Hot Start & Arc Force

Hot Start provides a current boost at arc ignition for reliable starts with all electrode types. Arc Force automatically increases current when the arc shortens — preventing electrode sticking and maintaining a stable arc throughout the weld.

VRD Selectable — Anti-Sticking Built In

VRD (Voltage Reduction Device) reduces open-circuit voltage to a safe level when not welding — essential for confined spaces and wet environments. Anti-sticking protection is built in as standard.

Multi-Sensor Protection

Equipped with temperature, voltage, and current sensors for comprehensive protection against overload and overtemperature. Designed to work with diesel generators and to avoid failures due to voltage spikes.

3-Phase Industrial Power

3-Phase AC 400V (±15%) 50–60Hz input for stable, balanced power draw in industrial facilities. 45A main fuse. 85% efficiency and 0.93 power factor minimise energy costs at high output.

Heavy-Duty Duty Cycle

40% duty cycle at 400A (Imax), 327A at 60%, and 253A at 100% continuous output — all at 40°C ambient. Engineered for sustained production welding in demanding industrial environments.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between the Elfin Stick 320 and Elfin Stick 400?
The key difference is output capacity. The Elfin Stick 320 delivers up to 320A (40A main fuse, 13.3 kVA input) and is suited for medium-heavy industrial MMA welding with electrodes up to 6.0mm. The Elfin Stick 400 delivers up to 400A (45A main fuse, 18.2 kVA input) and is designed for the heaviest industrial applications — thick plate, large-diameter electrodes, and sustained high-current production welding. Both share the same dimensions, IP21S protection, and feature set.
What does Hot Start do?
Hot Start provides a brief current boost at the moment of arc ignition — making it significantly easier to strike an arc, especially with cellulosic and low-hydrogen electrodes. It prevents the electrode from sticking to the workpiece at the start of the weld and ensures a clean, reliable arc initiation every time.
What is Arc Force and why does it matter?
Arc Force (also called Arc Control or Dig) automatically increases the welding current when the arc length shortens — preventing the electrode from sticking and maintaining a stable arc. This is particularly important for positional welding, root passes, and when using electrodes that require a short arc length. The Elfin Stick 400 allows Arc Force to be adjusted to suit different electrode types and welding positions.
What is VRD and when should I use it?
VRD (Voltage Reduction Device) reduces the open-circuit voltage to a safe level (typically below 35V) when the machine is not actively welding. This is a critical safety feature for confined spaces, wet environments, and elevated work platforms where accidental contact with the electrode could be dangerous. VRD is selectable on the Elfin Stick 400 — it can be enabled for high-risk environments and disabled when maximum arc performance is required.
Is it compatible with diesel generators?
Yes. The Elfin Stick 400 is designed to work with diesel generators and includes protection against voltage spikes — making it reliable for remote site and outdoor use where grid power is unavailable or unstable.
Is the Elfin Stick 400 CE certified?
Yes. The Elfin Stick 400 is fully CE certified and compliant with EU Low Voltage and EMC Directives. IP21S protection and Class F insulation make it suitable for professional workshop and site use across Europe.
What warranty is included?
